Message in a bottle

A whisky bottle containing notes and other items left by the builders to mark the completion of the spire on 24 April 1913.  The bottle was discovered in the summer of 2017 during repair work.

Ed Zanders, who was a server at St Jude’s in the 1960s, has just produced a new edition of his A Suburb Childhood which includes pictures and memories of his time here. The book is available from the church or on Amazon.

Reverend Ted Schroder of Grace Amelia Plantation Chapel in Florida

Visiting the church today was the Reverend Ted Schroder of Grace Amelia Plantation Chapel in Florida.  Ted was ordained at St Jude’s in 1968 and served as chaplain at the Polytechnic of Central London (now the University of Westminster) until 1971 where the vicar was chaplain from 1987 to 1994.
